Standing Up for New Beginnings

The funds raised will help transform 12 empty houses into Havens of Hope, creating welcoming, fully furnished homes where women and children can feel safe, supported and cared for as they begin to rebuild their lives with greater stability and hope. 

Hosted by Josh Reid-Jones of the Just Be Nice Project, the evening brought together speakers, performers, supporters and community leaders united by a shared commitment to creating positive change. Ganga Giri delivered a moving Acknowledgement of Country, while singer-songwriter Mat Rigby and Australian music icon Mike Brady provided live entertainment throughout the night. 

Marshall White’s Nicholas Brooks also took to the stage to lead the evening’s auction, bringing plenty of energy as guests bid on AFL guernseys, experiences and other prizes in support of You Matter. 

An important panel discussion facilitated by Tarang Chawla brought together Ben McDonald-Watson, Boyd Unwin, Phil Cleary and Reuben Williams to explore the role men can play in using their influence and leadership to help drive positive change within their communities. 

The evening also recognised the Stand Up in September Top 8: Raymond Yao, David O’Connell, Luke Ball, Bigoa Nyuon, Hugo Barry, Jobe Watson, Ben Bongiorno and Phil Cleary. Representing a diverse range of industries and backgrounds, each has pledged to become part of the solution to family violence. 

With the support of Gold Event Sponsor domo Insurance, event partners, speakers, performers, auction supporters and everyone who attended and donated, the evening demonstrated what can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared purpose.
